Your family-oriented daycare center in Alt-Wiedikon: Nature-oriented care at the foot of the Uetliberg.
The kids & co Tiergarten daycare center is idyllically located in a residential area with little traffic, right in the heart of Zurich’s family-friendly Alt-Wiedikon neighborhood (District 3). Surrounded by plenty of green space, our facility is the ideal childcare solution for families from Wiedikon, Friesenberg, Triemli, Heuried, or the neighboring town of Binz.
Here’s what our daycare center offers your child and your family’s daily life:
Caring Support: In small groups, we provide loving and individualized care for children from 3 months of age until they start kindergarten, so they can grow up in a safe and nurturing environment.
Large Private Garden: Our spacious on-site playground, featuring plenty of plants, rocks, and grassy areas, guarantees daily fun and nature-based play in the fresh air.
Bright & Spacious Rooms: The child-friendly indoor environment invites children to play, learn, and explore freely.
Individualized Support (BULG): Based on the concept of educational and learning histories, we take a theme- and project-based approach. Physical activity, social learning, creativity, and imagination are at the heart of our daily routine.
Stress-Free Accessibility: Thanks to our proximity to the S-Bahn (S10) and bus line 32—as well as excellent accessibility by bike—dropping off and picking up your child can be flexibly and easily integrated into your workday.
What Your Child experiences in our Day-to-Day Life
-
The children are lovingly and individually supported in two mixed-age groups.
Our thoughtfully designed spaces create a safe and nurturing environment where children feel comfortable, can move freely, and can joyfully explore the world. Our nature garden and our two outdoor areas, with their wide variety of play and activity options, invite children to play, marvel, and discover. Children can enroll as early as 3 months of age. Until they transition to kindergarten, we guide and support each child’s development in an age-appropriate and individualized manner. The children’s needs, interests, and well-being are always our top priority.
-
Physical activity, experiences in nature, and children’s joy of discovery
Children need physical activity—every day and in a variety of ways. At Purzelbaum Daycare, we provide a wide range of opportunities for climbing, balancing, jumping, running, and trying new things. Once a week, we also spend time in the woods or outdoors. The children experience different materials, sounds, smells, and seasons with all their senses; they observe, collect, build, and discover. In this way, we naturally combine physical activity, experiences in nature, and children’s joy of discovery.
-
Age-Specific Educational Work in Educational Settings
For about 90 minutes each day, the children can explore our diverse learning spaces and decide for themselves what interests them. Whether it’s exploration, creativity, role-playing, building, music, physical activity, or language—the age-appropriate activities invite them to discover, experiment, and learn. In the process, the children play and learn together across groups. Our educational staff closely guide them, provide inspiration, and support them in their individual development.
-
Development-Oriented Support Using Learning Stories and Portfolios (BULG)
We observe, support, and guide the children as they develop. We document important developmental milestones and your child’s current needs, and use this information to plan future play activities. In their portfolios, we collect experiences and observations that the children can proudly take home with them when they leave the daycare center.
-
Healthy meals in a caring atmosphere that encourages independence
The children choose and prepare their own meals from a wide, healthy, and varied selection of options. The team supports and guides them in a way that is appropriate for their age, helping them develop independence and a sense of autonomy. Of course, we take both cultural and medical dietary habits into account.
-
Exciting and needs-based projects
In the spring, our oldest children proudly take part in the kindergarten project; they are carefully prepared for their next transition so that they can get off to a good start!
-
Diversity and Inclusion
Children bring with them different languages, experiences, strengths, and needs. For us, this diversity is a natural part of everyday life at the daycare center.
Children whose first language is not German can receive targeted support for their language development through the KiD program.
