Your daycare center in Zurich-Hottingen: A warm and welcoming environment in the Uniquartier neighborhood, complete with its own garden.
The kids & co Kreis 7 daycare center at Freiestrasse 11 offers your child warm, caring care in a charming historic building. Located in the heart of the quiet, family-friendly Hottingen neighborhood, our daycare center is the ideal solution for parents who live or work in the Rämibühl area, Zurich’s university district, at the University of Zurich, or at the University Hospital.
Here’s what our daycare center offers your child and your family’s daily life:
A Sense of Security from an Early Age: We provide professional and loving care for children from 3 months old until they start kindergarten, so they feel safe and secure.
A Green Oasis in the Heart of the City: Our large, private garden—complete with a playground, shady trees, a slide, and a wooden playhouse—invites children to get active outdoors every day.
Experience nature up close: Through our innovative educational program “Acker-Racker,” children tend their own garden beds, explore nature, and learn in a playful way where our food comes from.
Individualized Support (BULG): Based on the proven concept of educational and learning stories, we provide your child with personalized support. Our project-based daily routine ensures plenty of play, fun, creativity, and imagination.
Stress-Free Access: Whether you’re traveling by bike, public transportation, or car—our central location lets you drop off and pick up your children flexibly, fitting perfectly into your daily work routine.
What Your Child experiences in our Day-to-Day Life
-
The children are lovingly supported in their development in two toddler groups and one preschool group.
You’ll benefit from age-appropriate facilities that foster a sense of security, encourage physical activity, and spark a love of discovery, as well as a large garden with plenty of opportunities for play! The children in the toddler groups are between 3 and 36 months old, and in the pre-kindergarten group, the focus is on the interests of children from 36 months until they start kindergarten. The children are individually supported and encouraged in their development—in a way that is tailored to their age—by a well-coordinated team that approaches their work with joy and great care.

Physical activity, experiences in nature, and children’s joy of discovery
As the Purzelbaum Daycare Center, we provide a wide range of opportunities for climbing, balancing, jumping, running, and trying new things. Our large garden offers plenty of space for these activities every day. Once a week, we also spend time in the woods or out in nature. The children experience different materials, sounds, smells, and seasons with all their senses; they observe, collect, build, and discover. This is how we naturally combine physical activity, experiencing nature, and children’s joy of discovery. As part of our “AckerRacker” project, we also dig, plant, water, harvest, and, of course, eat!
-
Age-Specific Educational Work in Educational Settings
For about 90 minutes each day, the children explore our diverse learning spaces. Exploration and discovery, creativity and design, role-playing, building and constructing, music and rhythm, movement, language, and the toddler area offer a wide variety of age-appropriate educational activities every day, which your child can choose independently based on their interests. During time in the learning spaces, children play, explore, and discover across groups—and, of course, are supported and guided throughout.
-
Development-Oriented Support Using Learning Stories and Portfolios (BULG)
We observe, support, and guide the children as they develop. We document important developmental milestones and your child’s current needs, and use this information to plan future play activities. In their portfolios, we collect experiences and observations that the children can proudly take home with them when they leave the daycare center.
-
Healthy meals in a caring atmosphere that encourages independence
The children choose and prepare their own meals from a wide, healthy, and varied selection of options. The staff supports and guides them in a way appropriate for their age, helping them develop independence and a sense of autonomy. Of course, we take both cultural and medical dietary habits into account.
-
Exciting and needs-based projects
A variety of themed projects, tailored to the children’s ages, needs, and interests, stimulate their development and provide a varied and exciting daily routine. Whether it’s the seasons, light effects, forest animals, vehicles, colors, or even the kindergarten project—our dedicated team is always finding new ways to create interesting projects for the children.
-
Diversity and Inclusion
Children bring with them different languages, experiences, strengths, and needs. For us, this diversity is a natural part of everyday life at our daycare center.
Children whose first language is not German can receive targeted support for their language development through the KiD program.
Children with special needs are also welcome here. Together with the parents, we carefully assess what each child needs for their well-being and development, and how we can provide appropriate support in the day-to-day life of the daycare center.
