Kita kids & co au Lac is your bilingual daycare center in Biel, centrally located right next to the train station. In our lovingly run daycare center in Biel, we care for children in a family-like and professional environment, speaking both German and French. How much does a daycare place cost?
In our daycare fees, diapers and meals are included free of charge for kids up to 12 months, or 18 months (from 01.08.26 onward).
You will receive a childcare discount if you require 40% or more of your care.

Yes, childcare vouchers from all Bernese municipalities are accepted.

Can I visit the daycare center beforehand?
Yes, we look forward to welcoming you and your child to our daycare center. You can schedule your visit online with just a few clicks, by phone, or by email – whichever is most convenient for you. It's important to us to answer all your questions thoroughly. Together, we're sure to find a time that fits your schedule.

What are the opening hours of the daycare center?
We are open for you 11.5 hours daily from Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM.

When does the daycare center close?
Our daycare center is practically always open; we only close for a break between Christmas and New Year's. We are also closed on public holidays, the Friday after Ascension Day, and on one staff training day.

How does the settling-in process work?
We use the Berlin model for settling-in, meaning that initially the child visits the daycare center accompanied by a familiar caregiver. This allows the child to become familiar with the new environment and the caregivers in a relaxed setting. In the next step, the settling-in period is gradually extended, and the caregiver slowly withdraws until the child has developed a secure relationship with the caregivers and feels comfortable in the daily routine of the daycare center.

What do I do if my child is sick?
Sick children are most comfortable at home, where they can recover and get well in peace. At the same time, this helps protect the health of the other children and our team. However, as long as the child can participate in the program at the daycare center, they are very welcome.

Can I swap days?
Yes, it is possible to exchange days within the same week free of charge, provided it is organizationally feasible at the daycare center.

Can I book additional days?
We are happy to offer you the option of booking additional childcare days. This is possible for single days or multiple days, provided there are still spaces available in our daycare center. You can easily submit your request via the parent app.

What is the food like in the daycare center?
Healthy and child-friendly nutrition is very important to us at the daycare center. The meals are freshly prepared for us by the Residenz au Lac. We place great value on balanced, seasonal, and varied menus. Free baby food is also available for our youngest children.

We communicate with parents personally, transparently, and easily. You can share important information with us directly at any time via our parent app. In addition, you'll receive our monthly parent newsletter with insights into daily life at the daycare, current topics, and a preview of upcoming events.
