Family-friendly daycare centre in a great location with plenty of space and a garden – easily accessible from Breitenrain, Lorraine and central Bern
The daycare centre kids & co Salem is located on Sonnenbergstrasse in the quiet Altenberg neighbourhood of Bern – right between Salem Hospital, the Kursaal and the Rosengarten. This means that it is not only centrally located, but also nestled in one of the most charming corners of Bern – easily accessible yet away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Our daycare centre offers loving care for children from 3 months to kindergarten age. In small groups, we create a familial atmosphere in which children feel safe, secure and individually cared for.
The premises are bright, friendly and child friendly. Our own garden invites children to play, move around and discover new things. During the summer months, weather permitting, the entire group of children goes on weekly forest days: eating food cooked over a fire, sleeping under trees and discovering the many wonders of nature makes a child’s heart beat faster.
Thanks to good public transport connections (via the Salem or Kursaal stops), the daycare centre is easily accessible – even for parents who work in the city centre or at Bern railway station.

However, as long as the child can participate in the program at the daycare center, they are very welcome.
Sick children are most comfortable at home, where they can recover and get well in peace. At the same time, this helps protect the health of the other children and our team.

We use the Berlin model for settling-in, meaning that initially the child visits the daycare center accompanied by a familiar caregiver. This allows the child to become familiar with the new environment and the caregivers in a relaxed setting. In the next step, the settling-in period is gradually extended, and the caregiver slowly withdraws until the child has developed a secure relationship with the caregivers and feels comfortable in the daily routine of the daycare center.
